The salary range for this position is $200,000 – $225,000 per year for employees hired in California. The pay range provided in this job posting represents the typical hiring range for this executive leadership position. Actual starting compensation will be determined based on factors including education, licensure, years of executive leadership experience, specialized knowledge, demonstrated skills and abilities, market data for the work location, and internal equity among employees in similar roles.

📝️ Position Summary

The Senior Director of Behavioral Health serves as Aspiranet's senior behavioral health leader, providing strategic leadership for behavioral health integration, clinical quality, service innovation, and operational excellence across the organization.

This position leads enterprise-wide behavioral health initiatives while ensuring consistent clinical standards, integrated systems of care, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and sustainable funding strategies. Working collaboratively with Executive Leadership, Finance, Program Operations, and external partners, the Senior Director will position Aspiranet to meet California's evolving behavioral health landscape while strengthening outcomes for children, youth, adults, and families statewide.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Aspiranet's statewide behavioral health vision, strategy, and enterprise-wide integration.
  • Develop innovative behavioral health models that improve outcomes across all program divisions.
  • Oversee behavioral health operations, clinical quality, compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Establish organization-wide clinical standards rooted in evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Lead behavioral health contracting strategies, including Medi-Cal, county contracts, managed care partnerships, and braided funding models.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership to identify growth opportunities, strengthen operational performance, and advance organizational priorities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with county behavioral health departments, healthcare systems, managed care organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Mentor senior leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor organizational performance through data analytics, quality metrics, compliance reviews, and operational dashboards.
  • Represent Aspiranet in statewide behavioral health initiatives, forums, and strategic partnerships.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current California LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist license.
  • Extensive executive or senior leadership experience within behavioral health, healthcare, or complex nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated success leading behavioral health integration across multiple service lines.
  • Strong knowledge of Medi-Cal, county behavioral health systems, managed care organizations, and behavioral health funding structures.
  • Experience overseeing contracts, compliance, quality improvement, and performance-based service delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead executive teams, influence organizational strategy, and manage large-scale change initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management, and executive leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout California as business needs require.
  • Valid California Driver's License and ability to meet Community Care Licensing employment requirements.
