Position Title: Youth Care Professional

JOB SUMMARY
The Youth Care Professional (YCP) is responsible for providing direct care, supervision, and life-skills development to youth receiving services within Aspiranet residential and facility-based programs. Youth Care Professionals work in direct client contact roles as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that includes Youth Care Professionals, Behavioral Health clinicians, and Social Work staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides direct supervision and direct client contact with youth.
  • Supports youth through daily routines and structured activities.
  • Engages youth in educational, recreational, vocational, and independent living activities.
  • Provides immediate crisis intervention support.
  • Documents incidents and observations.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus, portion control standards, and dietary requirements, including special diets when prescribed.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining, and food storage areas.
  • Monitor food inventory, notify supervisor of needed supplies, and assist with ordering as directed.
  • Work cooperatively with clinical and program staff to support mealtime routines that foster a positive and respectful dining experience.

MEAL SUPPORT, FOOD SAFETY, AND LIFE SKILLS

  • Supports youth during meal preparation, service, and cleanup.
  • Ensures safe food handling and temperature monitoring.
  • Coordinates with food service providers on census and dietary needs.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes required documentation.
  • Attends meetings, training, and supervision.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year as a YCP Partner with demonstrated performance of essential duties.
  • A Bachelor of Art’s or Sciences Degree.
  • Have completed 12 semester units of early childhood education, adolescent development, or foster and kinship care education.
  • Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center.
  • Have relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor or caregiver, or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
  • At least 1 year of experience in food preparation or food service.
  • Food Handler Certification or ServSafe Certification.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition principles.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office.

  2. Requires standing for extended periods, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs, and operating standard kitchen equipment.
  3. Exposure to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
  4. May interact with clients during meal service in a clinical environment.
  5. Must have the ability and skill to drive a vehicle
