In this overnight role, you’ll provide supervision, safety, and direct support to youth who have experienced complex trauma. By fostering stability and empowerment during overnight hours, you’ll help ensure every young person receives the care and connection they deserve.

📝 Position Summary

The Youth Specialist is responsible for the overnight care and supervision of youth at the Receiving Center. This includes implementing trauma-informed interventions, supporting safety and service plans, administering medication, and maintaining strong professional relationships with youth and staff.

 

🔍 Key Responsibilities

Youth Care & Engagement

  • Provide supervision and direct care to youth during overnight hours.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate and youth-specific activities.
  • Build professional and supportive relationships with youth.

Health & Safety

  • Utilize trauma-informed interventions to support positive behavior.
  • Administer medication as required.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the Center site.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Complete required documentation and youth screenings.
  • Provide transportation of youth when needed.
  • Serve as liaison with nurses and county social workers.
  • Report all incidents and concerns promptly to supervisor.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and supervisions.

 

✅ Qualifications

  • Education/Experience:
    • BA/BS in Social Work, Psychology, or related field with at least 1 year of experience in child welfare/behavioral health with youth who have experienced complex trauma, or
    • 2 years of full-time equivalent experience in child welfare/behavioral health with youth who have experienced complex trauma.
  • Must meet all required agency, funder, and regulatory conditions of employment.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and county employment requirements.

  • On-site at the Receiving Center in Concord, CA.
  • Overnight schedule: Friday–Saturday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
  • Part-time role.
