Temporary Accountant I (May 2019 - July 2019) no agencies please

The Accountant I position works with the Assistant Controller to maintain the accounting operations of Aspiranet and the accuracy in its reporting. This role requires thorough examination, detailed analysis, maintenance, reconciliation of financial data from the Organization’s ledger accounts. The success of the organization relies not only on the excellence of our work in the field, but also on the high standard of performance of our Finance team. An integral part accounting team, the Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of company data and that it complies with professional and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has experience with non-profit fund accounting, job costing, journal entries and audits.

Your Skills and Duties

  • Record, bank, and key all cash receipts; prepare A/R monthly adjustments (will need to be approved by CFO), reflecting any changes in adjusted Days of Care.
  • Prepare bank deposits, including making copies of checks for record-keeping.
  • Review bank debit accounts reconciliations.
  • Responsible for understanding the aging Accounts Receivable to determine write-offs for counties over payments and/or underpayments in accordance with Aspiranet’s write-off policy and as required by the CFO.
  • Post receipts of A/R payments on a deposit basis.
  • Responsible and maintain A/R cash sheet, including maintenance of schedules that ensures ending balance ties out to G/L.
  • Perform month-end & year-end close.
  • Act as a back-up to the Assistant Controller for bank reconciliations.
  • Work with the Assistant Controller and team to pull documentation as needed for audits.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with staff, Foster Parents, clients and community resources.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years’ of progressive accounting experience.
  2. Proficiency with MS Office; advanced excel experience desired
  3. Position requires a high level of attention to detail, a well-developed problem solving and analytical skills, including strong organizational skills.
  4. Have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle tasks with flexibility to adapt and adjust on an ad hoc basis.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by Community Care Licensing for a licensed Community Care Facility; i.e. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index Clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report).
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License may also be required for some positions.
