Aspiranet is seeking a resilient, grounded, and highly dependable Youth Specialist to support youth in crisis at our Receiving Center. This role works with youth experiencing severe emotional and behavioral challenges, including aggression, dysregulation, and acute trauma responses.

This is a hands-on, high-intensity role. Staff must be prepared to actively manage crisis situations, maintain safety, and provide structure during overnight hours when youth may be most vulnerable.

📝 Position Summary

The Youth Specialist provides direct supervision and crisis-responsive care for youth entering the Receiving Center, many of whom present with complex trauma histories, aggressive behaviors, and emotional instability.

Staff are responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and controlled environment, using trauma-informed care alongside clear limits, de-escalation techniques, and behavioral interventions.

 

🔍 Key Responsibilities

Youth Care & Behavioral Support

  • Provide active supervision and engagement, including with youth exhibiting verbal and physical aggression
  • Respond to and help de-escalate crisis situations, emotional outbursts, and unsafe behaviors
  • Maintain clear boundaries, structure, and expectations
  • Build rapport with youth who may be resistant, guarded, or distrustful

Safety & Crisis Response

  • Monitor for and intervene in potential safety risks and conflicts between youth
  • Implement crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies
  • Remain alert and responsive throughout overnight shifts

Health, Coordination & Documentation

  • Administer medication as required
  • Complete required documentation and screenings
  • Transport youth as needed
  • Collaborate with nurses, county social workers, and internal staff
  • Report all incidents promptly and accurately
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and supervision

 

✅ Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and at least 1 year of experience working with youth in behavioral health, child welfare, or a similar setting,
    OR
  • Equivalent of 2 years of full-time experience working in a similar role supporting youth with behavioral, emotional, or trauma-related needs
  • Experience working with high-acuity youth, including those with aggression, behavioral challenges, or crisis-level needs strongly preferred
  • Ability to remain calm, assertive, and effective in high-stress, unpredictable environments
  • Must meet all agency, funder, and regulatory employment requirements
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation

  • On-site at the Receiving Center in Concord, CA.
  • Overnight schedule: Friday–Saturday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
