📝 Position Summary
The Youth Specialist is responsible for the care and supervision of children and youth placed at the Receiving Center. Major responsibilities include providing care and supervision of youth, completing youth screenings, implementing a youth's service and safety plans, working one on one with youth utilizing interventions in support of identified behaviors, medication administration, documentation, transporting youth, liaison with public health nurse and county social workers, and maintaining the center site
🔍 Key Responsibilities
Youth Support
- Supervise youth, including the youth’s readiness for assessments, recreational activities, etc.
- Work in coordination with Center team members to implement youth’s service plan.
- Identify possible youth needs for additional professional services and communicate such findings in the shift exchange.
- Complete youth intake and discharge, including screenings.
- Administer prescribed medication per standards.
- Assist center youth with personal and hygiene care according to their developmental age.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all required documentation in the database within established timelines.
- Document youth behaviors and incidents.
- Document administration of prescribed medication according to agency and licensing standards in a timely manner.
- Adhere to agency, funder, state, and federal confidentiality standards.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Attend team, collaborative, community, and all-staff meetings.
- Participate in required trainings and supervision.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and professional boundaries.
✅ Qualifications
- High School Diploma with two years’ experience working with children/youth in a similar service.
- Must meet all state-required conditions of employment, including:
- Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance
- TB/Health physical
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance
