Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Technician (Licensed Vocational Nurse) is responsible for providing care and supervision to youth placed at the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).  This position assesses youth, oversees client medical needs including medication, participates in program and health services evaluation, develops client Individual Service Plan (ISP), connects clients to community resources, and identifies and facilitates Health and Well-Being Educational Groups for all clients. 

Your Skills and Duties 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides care and supervision to clients placed at the CSU.
  • Administers medication to clients.
  • Coordinates clients’ medical, physical & dental needs inclusive of referral and linkage
  • Provides health screening education and counseling to clients in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and mental health.
  • Provides daily living and supportive behavioral interventions to clients
  • Consults with physicians and pharmacists regarding medication needs of clients.
  • Call-ins to pharmacy prescriptions made by physician or psychiatrist.
  • Documents work done with client including interventions, status, progress, needs, medical issues, and behaviors.
  • Oversees communicable disease and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Provides staff trainings on communicable diseases and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with multi-disciplinary treatment team members and parents regarding client status, needs, progress, etc.
  • Participates in required meetings including client treatment planning and staff meetings.
  • Attends required trainings and meetings.

Performs other duties as assigned.

****Please note: the schedule for this position is Thursday-Monday, 11pm-7am****

Education and Work Experience

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Assistant program
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician certification
  • Minimum one-year of professional nursing or medical assistant experience
  • Holds CPR or BLR certification along with First Aid certification
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with children, adolescents and families with emotional problems is required
  • Mental health background, and/or experience working with youth and adolescent population preferred
  • Experience working in an inpatient or residential clinical setting is desired
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
