Your Impact

The Early Child Educator (Teacher) develops and delivers curriculum to parents and their children ages 0-5 through classroom instruction, workshops, events, and activities at our First 5 Center. This position provides new parents with the opportunity to learn about parenting their young children and helping them build social supports, empowering them to become part of a strong parent community.

The Family & Community Liaison (FCL) for the Aspiranet First 5 Center is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with families and community stakeholders and for increasing center participants, with special emphasis on African American/ caregivers with children 0-5 years.

 

Your Skills and Duties

  • Develops family literacy, early learning, and parental education class curriculum and content.
  • Prepares and provides curriculum and activities that are developmentally appropriate for the parent and child.
  • Conducts child development screenings.
  • Develops and provides pre-k transition programming including parent-child interactive classes that simulate preschool experiences.
  • Teaches and delivers parent-child classes.
  • Coordinates and facilitates events and workshops.
  • Establishes event agendas and assists with center calendar development.
  • Monitors attendance, participates in evaluation of services, and supports center registration.
  • Serves as a member of an integrated team of teachers, outreach and engagement workers and case managers.
  • Supports projects, initiatives, and/or specific program functions.
  • Completes monthly report on classes delivered.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

Education and Work Experience 

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree or working towards Associates Degree with at least 12 units completed.
  • Two (2) years of experience in family support preferred:
  • Experience related to center-based services and/or home visitation services preferred.
  • Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by Community Care Licensing for a Licensed Community Care facility, i.e., Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid CDL, and clean driving record.
