Position Title: Youth Care Professional

External Description:

As a Youth Counselor, you will ignite your passion for helping at-risk youth and gain skills to advance your career in social services, law enforcement, or psychology.  You will experience a dynamic setting, rich with like-minded professionals as you provide support, love, and care for boys from across the state.

Although your primary responsibility is to provide care for up to eight youth in a residential setting, your real job, the job you’ll remember, is to show these boys what it feels like to have somebody care about them. And in return, you’ll understand what it means to change the direction of another person’s life. This flexible opportunity with evening and weekend hours allow you to do something you’re passionate about while gaining real-world experience. This is the ideal position for a recent college graduate looking for an enriching experience to launch their career, a stay-at-home parent seeking to reenter the workforce, or someone working on their Master’s degree in social work or psychology.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As a Youth Counselor with Aspiranet in Turlock, California, you’ll oversee the daily and/or overnight care of boys who have experienced trauma.  The Youth Counselor provides love, stability, and direction inside one of Aspiranet’s residential cottages. You aren’t sitting on the sidelines observing but engaged and active with children. You are constantly thinking of ways to keep daily life inclusive and interesting.

As a trauma-informed care provider, you understand common symptoms of trauma are defiance, profanity, and disrespect which can be directed at caregivers. You’ll have to adapt to unfortunate circumstances with a mixture of empathy and assertiveness.  You are a positive professional in their life responsible for maintaining a sense of calm and order with a group that often has not had either in their lives. Your success as a Youth Counselor will depend on your ability to provide oversight, structure, and comfort for children and youth ensuring that kids brought into the program are going to stay in the program.

In our team-based setting, you’ll work with a group of professionals, including therapists and social workers, who share your dedication to making a difference in kids’ lives. In our family-like environment, you’ll be supported as well as provide support to others just entering the field.  You’ll be prepared to utilize this support system as well as maintain a self-care plan.

YOUR GROWTH

Aspiranet supports your success at each step. You’ll put your educational knowledge to practice along with your relationship building and collaboration skills.  You’ll also gain valuable in-house and external training to support your success in your role. This is a great opportunity to begin your career with the ability to advance throughout the organization once you’ve developed additional skills. There is plenty of room for advancement, both through the county and state-wide.

YOUR REWARDS

Aspiranet offers a competitive salary, an exceptional team-based environment, and a great benefits package that includes employer-paid healthcare, dental, vision and wellness care. Aspiranet rewards you for the work you do – engaging with your clients and helping them meet their goals.
