Position Title: Home Study Writer

As a Home Study Writer with Aspiranet, you will ignite your passion as a social worker for helping families and children. You’ll be a part of a team that needs your inquisitive nature and attention to detail to help assess families in preparation for caring for children, youth, and young adults developing relationships that last a lifetime. 

Although your primary responsibility is to conduct the psychosocial assessment with families, your real job, the job you’ll remember, is to ensure children are placed with safe, supportive and loving families. 

This position is ideal for individuals with a Master’s degree in social work or related field. If you have recently graduated, it is a great place to launch your career.  If you took time away from full-time employment, this position is ideal for you to leverage your education and experience as you reenter the workforce. 

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As a Home Study Writer with Aspiranet in Turlock, California, you’ll conduct interviews, review background checks, collect references and verifications so that you can write detailed strengths-based family reports.  You will be helping to ensure children and youth who have experienced trauma receive love and care.  

You must quickly engage and develop relationships with families and use your interviewing skills to elicit extensive personal information that informs your assessment.   Your curiosity and ability to keep an open mind will help you evaluate families impartially. You will conduct comprehensive assessments to support your primary responsibility for writing detailed reports. These reports provide critical information to the family development team. 

You’ll need to build trust and rapport with the families as you complete the home study process. Your success as a Home Study Writer will depend on your ability to provide timely written reports that provide vital information to which is instrumental in matching potential foster and adoptive families and children.  

The Home Study writer is a focused role and you’ll need the flexibility to meet with families when available.  Your day will be split between the office and the field where you will need your own transportation to appointments.

NTI helps us to better address the mental health & developmental needs of children in foster, adoptive or guardianship families.  SAFE aids home study practitioners in performing a thorough, structured and uniform evaluation of families who have applied to foster or adopt.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s degree in social work or related field or have a Bachelor’s degree in social work with at least two years’ experience in social services or adoption.

While the ability to speak Spanish is not required, the skill is valuable to us.
