Your Impact

Under the direction of the Recruitment & Community Engagement Supervisor, the Hiring and Orientation Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate managing of all hiring, onboarding and orientation.  The Hiring and Orientation Specialist generates all paperwork required by the program to initiate a hire, manages the HRM, and conducts phone screenings, interviews and reference checks for applicants. The Hiring and Program Orientation Specialist works within a team environment.  The Hiring and Program Orientation Specialist is also responsible for overseeing the timely completion and submission of first day paperwork of all new employees. The Hiring and Program Orientation Specialist collaborates with the program Managers and Supervisors and Training-Pod Core Program Manager(s) coordinate and participate in new staff orientation.

Your Skills and Duties

  •         Initiate opening of all positions for the program.
  •         Manage the hiring responsibilities in the HRM system and keep that portion of the system updated daily
  •         Daily completion of ranking, screening, interviewing, etc. of applicants
  •         Identify qualified applicants (through above processes) for vacant positions
  •         Under direction of Recruitment & Community Engagement Supervisor facilitate hiring of staff
  •         Have a working knowledge of vacant positions and skills and knowledge needed to do the job.
  •         Conduct standardized screening, interviewing and checking of references for all qualified applicants.
  •         Coordinate with Recruitment Outreach Coordinator and HR onboarding staff the work flow to fill vacant positions in a timely manner.
  •         Staff completion of written new staff orientation per role.
  •         Provide non practice portions of staff Orientation
  •         In collaboration with CPD, CPMs and CPSs maintain in-house professional development training and calendar of training.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Recruitment & Community Engagement Supervisor and with additional Hiring and Program Orientation Specialist.

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two years’ experience participating in hiring and or orienting staff
  • Meets all state required conditions of employment; i.e. Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index Clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Report) if required to drive for this position
  • Meets all compliance requirements of federal, state, and county regulations by periodic sanction checks
