As a Resource Family Social Worker for Aspiranet, you will have the opportunity to work from a place of deep meaning and impact supporting foster and adoptive families.  You’ll be a part of a team that focuses on helping families and foster children thrive. Although your primary responsibility is to manage a small caseload, your real job, the job you’ll remember, is to provide these families and children with compassion and guidance so that they can succeed together.  

As a Social Worker with Aspiranet in Fresno, California you’ll provide case management services to approximately 15 children, youth and their foster and adoptive families.  As a trauma-informed care provider, you help to ensure children and youth who have experienced trauma receive love and care.

This position is ideal for individuals with a Master’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology.  If you have recently graduated, it is a great place to launch your career. If you took time away from full-time employment, this position is ideal for you to leverage your education and experience as you reenter the workforce. 

 

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

The Social Worker is responsible for providing support and intervention through regular home visits and support (training, resources advocacy, and interventions) to children, youth and their families in Fresno, California. This flexible position which includes some evening hours allows you to do something you are passionate about while gaining real-world experience working with children and families. 

You will need passion, flexibility and excellent relationship skills to manage urgent issues while maintaining a consistent focus on case management and documentation. You will meet with families around their schedules.  Every day is different so some days may begin when school starts, while other days may end around dinner time. You’ll adjust your schedule accordingly. Your day will be split between the office and the field where you will need your own transportation to appointments.

You’ll use your rapport and motivation skills to help parents fully engage with the support offered. There is a fair bit of case documentation, but the bulk of your time will be spent in the field working directly with families and children.  You'll rely upon your attention to detail in keeping records to agency standards as client records serve as a tool to aid in continuity of care.

You will work with a team, including county social workers, birth families, therapists, medical professionals, and county liaisons, who share your dedication to making a difference in kids’ lives.   You’ll meet with the support team individually and as a group for status and care updates. Your success as a Social Worker will depend on your ability to build relationships, both with the families and youth you serve as well as the team of professionals who collaborate to provide case support.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

A Master’s degree in a field related to social services (i.e. child development, psychology, counseling) or a Bachelor’s degree with at least two years’ experience working in social services.

While the ability to speak Spanish is not required, the skill is valuable to us.
